Todd M. Clarey
Bay City, Michigan
Our loving husband, father, papa, son, brother and friend passed away Monday, July 1, 2019, age 60. The son of R. Michael Clarey and DeAnn (Bedell) DeBats, he was born March 21, 1959 in Bay City and has resided in the area his entire life. Todd married the love of his life and best friend, Diane Carpenter, on May 18, 1985 in Bay City and she survives him. He was a veteran and served his country in the US Air Force. Todd worked at Dow Michigan Operations for over 34 years. He enjoyed boating and water skiing behind his Ski Nautique. He was a dedicated hockey and baseball coach that took pride in being everyone’s biggest fan. He loved being around his children and grandbabies, and adored every moment he spent with his wife and best friend, DiDi.
Surviving beside his wife Diane are three children: Whitney (Adam) Legner, Dr. Austin (Raisa Razalan) Clarey and Brookelynn (Chad) Neal. Three grandchildren: Harper Legner, Quinn Neal and Sadie Legner. Todd’s father R. Michael Clarey, uncle, Troy Kemp, two sisters, Tammy (Joe) McInerny and Shelley “Ethel” Clarey. Father and Mother-in-law, Jury and Ettalea Carpenter, Debbie (John) Craves, Darbie (Rick) Fiddler, and Denise (Mike) Avery, many nieces and nephews. Todd was predeceased by his mother DeAnn DeBats.
Military Honors, under the auspices of the Bay County Veterans Honor Guard and the US Air Force will be held Saturday, July 6, 2019 at 2:00 PM at Squires Funeral Home. A Celebration of Todd’s Life will follow the Military Honors. Friends and family will gather at the funeral home Saturday from 11:00 AM until the time of service. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to the University of Michigan Brain Bank, Ataxia Research Fund.
