Wagner, Thomas J. “Tom”
Bay City, Michigan
Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, and brother-in-law passed away in the early afternoon hours, with his family by his side, on Wednesday, May 15, 2019 at the McLaren Bay Region Hospital in Bay City, Michigan. Age 80 years. Thomas was born in Bay City on January 10, 1939 to the late Leo and Jennie (Yaworksi) Wagner. On January 24, 1959 at St. Hyacinth Church, Thomas married his loving wife Maxine M. Wajer, and she survives him. After 36 years of service, Thomas retired from the Dow Corning Corporation where he worked as a chemical processor. He is an active member at the St. Catherine of Sienna Parish – St. Vincent de Paul Church. Thomas was a very faithful and religious man, he would pray the Rosary daily. He also had a love for roses, and took extra care of his rose gardens at his home. He enjoyed spending time at their family cabin in Alcona County, Michigan. Thomas was an avid outdoorsmen, he loved to hunt and fish even if it meant changing his daily schedule. Although hunting and fishing brought him much joy, nothing meant more to Thomas than his family. He adored spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Left to cherish his memories are his wife of 60 years, Maxine M. Wagner; children, Timothy James (Karen) Wagner, Teresa Jane (Special friend, Dave Schmidt) Wagner, Lawrence Thomas (Betty) Wagner, Lisa Marie (Special friend, “Ski”) Fischer, Tammy Lynn (Special friend, James Rohloff) Wagner, Julie Ann (Gerald) LaFlure, and Jennifer Sue (Jeff) Bade; twenty grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Robert (Donna) Madaj, Charlotte (Glenn) Carey, Greg (Connie) Wajer, and Joyce Wajer; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. After a period of separation, Thomas is finally reunited with his parents, Leo and Jennie (Yaworski) Wagner; siblings, Leo (Jan) Wagner, Virginia (Robert) Shimel, and Leona (Walt) Epperson; brother-in-law, Gerald Wajer; and sister-in-law, Pauline (Ed) LaMoria.
The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, May 20, 2019 at the St. Catherine of Sienna Parish – St. Vincent de Paul Church. Principal Celebrant will be Rev. Fr. John Sarge and concelebrating will be Rev. Fr. Robert Kelm and Rev. Fr. George Serour. Visitation will take place at the Squires Funeral Home on Sunday from 2:00 until 8:00 p.m. and at the church on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass. A parish Vigil Service and Rosary Service will be held at the funeral home on Sunday night at 6:00 p.m. Private family Committal Prayers and Interment will take place at the St. Stanislaus Cemetery.
