Stevenson, Robert A. “Bob”
Bay City, Michigan
Our loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend passed away peacefully with his family by his side in the late morning hours of Friday, May 31, 2019 at Brian’s House in Essexville, Michigan. Bob was born in Bay City, Michigan on December 2, 1939 to the late Andrew W. and Charlotte (Albracht) Stevenson. He proudly served for his country as a member of the United States Army. On July 14, 1962, Bob married the love of his life, Rose Erndt, at St. Norbert Church in Munger, Michigan and she survives him. After several decades of service with General Motors Corporation, Bob retired as a Union Representative. Bob was a member at St. Jude Thaddeus Parish – St. John’s Church, member of the Bay County Veterans Honor Guard, American Legion Post #18, Knights of Columbus #2740, and the P.L.A.V. Post #162. He was a girl’s softball and boy’s baseball coach for the Essexville Hampton Little League. Bob was an avid hunter and fisherman. His family will always remember him for his love of helping people. He was a very great guy and he will be missed dearly by his family and friends.
Left to cherish his memories are his wife of almost 57 years, Rose Stevenson; children, Sherry Anne (Joseph) Kusmierz, Barbra Anne (David) Niedzielski, Scott Stevenson, and Todd (Sara) Stevenson; grandchildren, Seth, Summer, M.M.N 2nd Class Kevin (Kiwako), Michael, Jenna, Nick, Jake, Kyle, Shane, Carter, and Andrew; great-grandchildren, Kiko, Marley, Jozlynn, and Walter; brother, Andrew W. Stevenson; brother-in-law and sisters-in-law, Sister Anne Francis Erndt, Richard (Marcia) Erndt, Maxine Erndt, and Pam Stevenson. After a period of separation, Bob is overjoyed to be reunited with his children, Kathleen Anne Stevenson-Huiskens and Robert P. Stevenson; daughter-in-law, Ashley Stevenson; parents, Andrew W. and Charlotte (Albracht) Stevenson; brother, William “Bill” Stevenson, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Merry Carol Stevenson, Frank Erndt, Ed Erndt, and Mabel Szelogowski.
At the request of Bob and his family, cremation has taken place. Military Honors, under the auspices of the Bay County Veterans Honor Guard will be held Friday, June 21, 2019 at 5:00 PM at the Knights of Columbus Council #2740 Hall, 1021 Woodside Ave., Essexville, MI 48732. Family and friends will gather at the hall from 4:00 to 9:00 PM. Everyone is encouraged to attend, food and beverages will be provided.
