Swantek, Richard T. Sr.
Bay City, Michigan
Richard T. Swantek Sr., of Bay City, passed away on August 15, 2018 at the McLaren Bay Regional Hospital at the age of 81. The son of the late Thomas and Genevieve (Stajkowski) Swantek was born on September 22, 1936. Richard graduated from Bay City Central High School. He was a member of Our Lady of Czestochowa Parish – St. Hyacinth Church. Richard was a tool and die maker for 36 years at the Bay City GM Powertrain and retired in 1991. He was a member of UAW #362. Richard loved hunting and fishing. He was an avid outdoor sportsman all of his life. He also enjoyed going to the figure 8 demolition derby races with his son, Richard Jr., to watch their friends participate in the races.
On January 24, 1959, Richard married the former Judith R. Kuch. She survives his passing along with their children; Barbara Swantek and Richard Swantek Jr, and many nieces and nephews. Richard was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Connie (Swantek) Yax.
The family would like to thank all of the staff at the Bay Shore Rehabilitation Center for their kindness, with special thanks to Valerie, Kim, Mitzi, and Lynette.
Visitation will take place at the Ambrose Funeral Home on Sunday, August 19, 2018 from 2:00 until 8:00 p.m. and on Monday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of Mass. The Funeral Mass will take place Monday, August 20, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Czestochowa Parish – St. Hyacinth Church. Celebrant will be Rev. Fr. Richard Filary. Interment and Committal Prayers will take place at Floral Gardens Cemetery immediately following the Mass. There will also be a 4:00 p.m. Vigil Service at the funeral home Sunday.
