Milton Joseph Brissette
Bay City, Michigan
Milton Joseph Brissette, born September 10, 1927, passed away peacefully after a sudden illness on December 29, 2018. He is survived by his devoted wife of 71 years, Monica Marie Brissette (Piggott). He was the son of Henry and Anna Brissette (Picardat). Milton was a retired business owner and retired employee of General Motors. He attended school at and was a member of St Mary’s Parish (now our Lady of Peace). He was a loving and devoted husband, father, brother, and son. He excelled at sports in his youth and was a three sport athlete at St. Mary’s. He was also a devoted alter boy, getting up at 4am for years in order to assist at the daily 5am mass for the nuns. He was invited to try out for the Detroit Tigers and while his hitting was spectacular, at that time there was no designated hitter, and as a short lefty he was not a big enough target at first base so, although a contender, was not offered a contract. He was a sports spectator throughout his life, and enjoyed his golf leagues as long as he was able. He believed in positive attitudes and always loved a good joke. He was a curious and creative thinker which made for many good conversations. He was loved.
His children, Mark Brissette (Nancy), Barb Brissette-Draper, and Jan Brissette (Albert Kraus), will miss him dearly, as will his grandchildren, Andrew Brissette, John Brissette (Jess), Jennifer Henry (Zach), Jeff Draper (Andrea), Nina Kraus, Emily Kraus, and Albert Evan Kraus. He was fortunate enough to know and love seven great grandchildren as well: Clare, Grayson and Sam Henry; Caleb and Anna Brissette; and Jax and Asher Draper. He was a loving uncle to many nieces and nephews, including Tom Piggott (June) and sons Ben and Luke.
He is survived by his sister June Reid, and pre-deceased by her husband Bill Reid and his other sisters and their husbands; Geraldine DeLoughary (Tom), Pearl Moyses (Cliff), Martha Wisniewski (Stan). He was also pre-deceased by brothers in law John Piggott and Harry Piggott. He was a good friend to many and treasured those relationships. He felt blessed in having such thoughtful neighbors and friends in his life, including Colleen Fodo and Rich Smith. He was generous with his love, holding all family members and dear friends close to his heart and every night saying a prayer for each of them.
