     Mary Theresa King, age 94 passed away Sunday, November 18th at Meadowbrook Care Facility in Bellaire, Michigan. Born in Jamaica, New York to Frank and Frances Bodensky, oldest of 2 children.  Mary married Joseph King on Christmas Eve 1943 and they settled in Bay City.  Joseph preceded her on January 26, 1980. She graduated at the age 16 and became a Licensed Practical Nurse.  After coming to Bay City she was hired at the former Bay Osteopathic Hospital.  She then went to work for Dr. Chute and Dr. Hurt as their office nurse. She also worked at the former Bay City General for a short period before retiring. Mary enjoyed bowling and golf until injuries no longer allowed her to enjoy those activities.  She loved going to bingos, casino, working crossword puzzles, and Lottery instant ticket scratch offs.   

     Mary had been a member of the Women of the Moose since 1972, achieving degrees of Senior Regent, College of Regents Degree, Council 7 Higher Degree, and Star Recorder Degree.  She also had been an active member of the Eagles.

     Mary will be remembered for being a wonderful mother, grandmother, great grandmother and kind woman to all that knew her. She made the best macaroni and cheese and coleslaw according to her grandchildren. Mary always remembered birthdays and, anniversaries and never failed to send a card celebrating the event.  She was known for her sense of humor and quick wittiness thus having a very active social circle.   She was loved by all the staff at Meadow Brook who will miss her terribly.

     Mary is survived by her younger brother, Frank Bodensky, Jr. of New York. Her best friend, her rescue cat, Muffy. Mary leaves behind her 3 children:  Joe King Jr. of Bay City, Pam Sulak (Mark) of East Jordan, and Karen Schmidt (Michael) of Indian River and Naples, Florida, eight grandchildren:  Christine Boyer (Tim) Anderson of Wilmette, Illinois; Michelle Schmidt of Dolores, Colorado; Mackenzie Schmidt of Rosenberg, Texas,  Meredith Schmidt (Josh) of San Jose, California., Sandra (Darcy) Kotalik of Boyne City, Scott Sulak of Petoskey, Mark Jr. (Stacey) Sulak of Wolverine, and Trisha (Domingo) Ortiz of Maple City, eight great grandchildren:  Maxsen and Emma Anderson of Wilmette Illinois,  JJ and Zack Sulak of Petoskey, Amber (Michael) Kotesky of East Jordan, Lacey Kotalik, of Boyne City, Cillian Sulak and Starling Ortiz of Maple City. 

    The family will greet friends from 2:00 to 6:00 PM at Squires Funeral Home on Tuesday, November 20, 2018.  A memorial service will be held at a later date.  The family requests no flowers or plants. Memorials in Mary's name may be made to the Bay County Humane Society or to a Humane Society of your choice.
