Our loving father and grandfather passed away peacefully with his family by his side in the afternoon hours of Thursday, November 8, 2018 at the Sheffield Bay Assisted Living Facility in Bay City, Michigan. Age 92 years. Lloyd was born in Bay City, Michigan on August 19, 1926 to the late Orville and Mary (Shiel) Mead. He married his loving wife, Alice H. Bladecki, on September 9, 1950 at St. Hedwig Catholic Church. Alice preceded him in death on August 13, 2017. Lloyd has resided in Bay City, Michigan all of his life He was a member at St. Hedwig for many years. LLoyd retired from Rush Stationers and Printers.  He also worked for many years at Neetz Printing and Hurley Brothers Printing. For leisure activities, Lloyd enjoyed golfing and going to the casino. Lloyd was a very hard worker as well; building many family houses, woodworking, and keeping his yard immaculate. He will be missed by his friends at the Maple Leaf Golf Course, where he was a member.


Left to cherish his memories are his two children, Thomas (Julie) Mead and Tricia Mead; two grandchildren, Geoffrey (Kathi) Mead and Zoya Mead; one great-grandchild, Henrik Mead; two brothers-in-law, James Steinhoff and Robert Bladecki; two sisters-in-law, Joyce Klug and Patricia Bladecki and many nieces and nephews. Lloyd is welcomed in Heaven’s Gate’s by his parents, Orville and Mary (Shiel) Mead; wife, Alice H. (Bladecki) Mead; three brothers and three sisters, Kenneth Mead, Brian Mead, Bobby Mead, Alice Anderson, June Steinhoff, and Marilyn “Joyce” Schmidt; and two brothers-in-law and two sisters-in-law, Kip Anderson, Gerald Schmidt, Lorraine Mead, and Lois Mead.


The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Sheffield Bay Assisted Living Facility and McLaren Hospice for the outstanding care and compassion given to their father and family.


The Funeral Mass will be held at Corpus Christi Parish – St. Hedwig Church on Tuesday, November 13, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will take place on Tuesday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass. Celebrant will be Rev. Fr. Robert Kelm. Private interment will follow at Floral Gardens Cemetery in Bay City, Michigan. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to the “Sheffield Bay Assisted Living Facility” or “McLaren Hospice”.
