Heinlein, Janet M.
Our loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother was called home to be with the Lord on Monday, September 9, 2019, with her family by her side at the age of 78. She was born July 16, 1941 in Reese to the late Nick and Josephine (Osantowski) Fischer. After graduating from Fairgrove High School, she met and soon fell in love with Delbert J. Heinlein. They were married on May 14, 1960 and celebrated over 54 years of marriage together. Del preceded her in death on August 6, 2014. Jan was a school bus driver for the Reese School District for many years before retiring. She was a member of St. Elizabeth Church where she was a former Eucharistic Minister and frequently helped at the funeral luncheons. After they both retired, Del and Jan enjoyed heading up to the U.P. where they would spend their summers together camping. Shortly after returning home, they would head up North to Manistee to go salmon fishing. They always enjoyed going deer hunting together and Jan would often talk about how she was a better shot than Del. She enjoyed Tiger baseball games, as well as taking long Sunday afternoon drives.
Left to cherish her memory are three children; Debbie (Mike) Burns, Edward (Mary) Heinlein and Greg (Janet) Heinlein. Also surviving are seven grandchildren; Pat and Courtney Burns, Alyce (Mike) Weiler, Kendrick (Kim) Heinlein, Candace Heinlein, Stuart and Bethany Heinlein and two great grandchildren; Kinsley Weiler and Maddox Heinlein. She also leaves three sisters-in-law; Lynne Fischer, Margaret Herzberg and Doris Bauer as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by three sisters; Mary Ellen (Vic) Marker, Johanna (Dale) Yott, Isabelle Fischer and a brother, Nick Fischer Jr.
Funeral Mass will take place at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, September 14, 2019 at St. Elizabeth Church. Fr. Christian Tabares will officiate with burial in St. Elizabeth Cemetery. Friends may call at the church only on Saturday, September 14, 2019 from 9:00 A.M. until time of funeral mass.
