Obituary

Russell-Neal, Geraldine J. “Gerry”

Bay City, Michigan

Our beloved mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend, Geraldine J. Neal, went to be with the Lord in the late afternoon hours of Friday, October 25, 2019 at the McLaren Bay Region Hospital in Bay City, Michigan. Age 90 years. Gerry was born on September 2, 1929 in Bay City to the late Joseph and Bernice McCure. On August 7, 1948 at St. Hyacinth Church, Gerry married the love of her life, Raymond Russell, and he preceded her in death in March of 1985. Gerry was a lifelong member of St. Hyacinth Church, which is now Our Lady of Czestochowa Parish. She loved to knit and crochet. Gerry was a very talented piano player; she especially enjoyed playing for dance recitals. She always liked to test her luck playing bingo and going to the casino. Gerry worked numerous bingo events for her church, Pulaski Hall, and for the P.L.A.V #162. Candles, dark chocolate, and animals brought much joy to Gerry. Her grandchildren will always remember her as being the “coolest grandma with a Sega”. Above all, nothing meant more to Gerry then the time she was able to spend with her family.

Left to cherish her memories are her five children, Kenneth (Mary) Russell, Sherry Wachowski, Connie (Richard) Breternitz, Joe (Connie) Russell, and Julie (Ted) Morgrette; ten grandchildren, Pat (Ann), Jeff (Christine), Lisa (Alan), Melissa (Greg), Eric, Erin, Chad, Rachael (Ryan), Brandon (Jesika), and Matthew (Lara); seven great-grandchildren with one more on the way; special niece, Lori Welch; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Gerry is finally reunited with her husband, Raymond Russell; son-in-law, Russell Wachowski, parents, Joseph and Bernice McCure; brother, Robert McCure; and sister, Beatrice (Ivan) Welch.

Gerry’s family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Joseph and his staff, the 5th floor staff of McLaren Bay Region, and the staff of the Cardiac Cath Lab at McLaren Bay Region for the care and compassion that they provided to Gerry and their family.

At the request of Gerry and her family, cremation has taken place and no services will be held at the Ambrose Funeral Chapel. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider a memorial to the “St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital”. For online condolences please visit, www.AmbroseFuneralChapel.com
