Obituary

Zielinski, Esther D.

Bay City, Michigan

Our loving mother and grandmother, Esther D. Zielinski, went to be with the Lord on July 22, 2019. Age 98 years. Esther was born on February 21, 1921 in Bay City, Michigan to the late Andrew and Mary (Dziubek) Puralewski. On April 27, 1946 she married the love of her life, Leonard S. Zielinski, and he preceded her in death on May 5, 1993. Esther was a lifelong member of St. Hyacinth Church, which is now named Our Lady of Czestochowa Parish. Esther was an avid bowler, and at one time bowled on three separate leagues. She loved playing bingo, smear, and going to the casino. Her biggest passion in life was baking; in which she did every single day. She was famous for her coffeecake and paczki. She will always be known for her generosity and her kindness; she would deliver baked goods to family and friends on a regular basis without them even having to place an order. Lastly, Esther loved to sew; she did at-home alterations and alterations for Career Uniforms. Above all, nothing meant more to Esther than the time she was able to spend with her family and friends. She will be missed dearly by all.

Left to cherish her memories are her children, Carol (Alan) Maciag, Mary Kowalski, Michael Zielinski, and Leonard J. Zielinski; guardian to and “fifth child”, Sandra (Gary) Leppek; grandchildren, Jonathan (Kelli) Maciag, Elizabeth Maciag; great-grandchildren, Haley Kowalski, Megan Kowalski, Brenden Woudstra, Nicholas Woudstra, Matthew Woudstra, Ivy Maciag, Grant Maciag, and John Maddalena; great-niece and great nephew, Rachelle (Jason) Sowinski and Ryan Leppek; great-great nieces and nephews, Ellie, Cade, and Trevor Sowinski, and Ethan and Evan Leppek; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Esther is finally reunited with her husband, Leonard S. Zielinski; parents, Andrew and Mary (Dziubek) Puralewski; son-in-law; Bob Kowalski; granddaughter, Rebecca Woudstra; siblings, Cecilia Sporman, Ephriam Puralewski, Hugo Puralewski, Stanley Puralewski, Irene Burzynski, Theresa Piotrowski, Jozef Puralewski, and Florian Puralewski.

Esther’s family would like to extend a special thank you to: Sandra Leppek, Joan Holderied, Dr. Charles Kerr, and McLaren Hospice for the care and compassion that each person provided to their mother and family in her later years and final days.
