Christopher M. (Wally) Wolcott was born into Eternal Life Thursday, August 8, 2019, at age 55. Wally, as he was affectionately called by family and friends, was born in Saginaw on December 7, 1963 to James and Jeanette (Zielinski) Wolcott. Chris was a graduate of All Saints Central High School where he excelled in sports, playing football and basketball. He and his fellow athletes formed strong friendships which he maintained throughout his lifetime. Chris received his Bachelor's Degree from Lake Superior State University in 2005 and a Master's Degree in Education from Saginaw Valley State University. As a middle school teacher he taught two years in Florida and eight years in Arizona; he was passionate about education and utilized his athletic skills again coaching football and other sports. Chris also taught Driver Education, worked as a computer technician, and tutored students.
Wally was strong and outgoing. He loved life and it was his zest for it that allowed him to explore and experience many opportunities. Besides working in education, he drove semi tractor trailer and worked with his father and Fremont Mutual as an Insurance Adjuster. He enjoyed his cabin in the Upper Peninsula where he lived for several years and was an avid hunter and fisherman. Chris was also a compassionate caregiver to his father and most especially, his mother over the last eight years. He loved the outdoors and landscaping with his mother.
Living to cherish his memory is his mother Jeanette; siblings Jodie (Steven) Hebert, Kevin (Angela) Wolcott, Mary Jo Wolcott, Edgar Wolcott, and Nina (Gary) Joppich; nieces and nephews Victor (Melissa) Talaga and their children, Jocelyn and Bryce, Gabe (Kristen) Talaga and their children Elliot and Daphne, Mia Hebert, Madeline Hebert, Sophie Wolcott, Cecilia Wolcott, Rhoan Wolcott, Jenna (Troy) Long and their children Harper and Grace, Samuel Dixon, Oliver Dixon, Charlotte Wolcott, Isabelle Wolcott, Alivea Wolcott, Clara Wolcott, Alexis Rock, Alex Joppich, Brandon Joppich, Jonah Joppich, Manny Joppich and Carrina Joppich; aunts and uncles Sharon (Don) Sivits, Jack (JoAnn) Zielinski, and Nancy (Mike) Nowak, Mary Jane Sigelko and Phyllis Zielinski. Chris was preceded in death by his father James Wolcott; his uncle and godfather Fritz Zielinski; uncles Jim Zielinski and Ben Sigelko; cousins Karen Zielinski and Jay Sivits.
A Funeral Mass for Chris will be celebrated on Friday, August 16, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Czestochowa Parish – St. Stanislaus Kostka Church 1503 Kosciuszko Ave. Bay City, Michigan. Fr. Rick Filary will preside with Interment in St. Patrick's Cemetery. Chris's family will be present to receive visitors at Ambrose Funeral Home on Thursday, August 15, 2019 from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Friday at church after 9:00 a.m. Family and friends are invited to further celebrate Wally's life with a time of sharing on Thursday at 7:00 p.m. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider the wishes of the family.
