Stegman, Arlene Catherine (Fritsch)
Bay City, Michigan
Our loving mother, grandmother, and sister passed away peacefully in the evening hours of Friday, March 8, 2019 at Brian’s House in Hampton Township, Michigan with her family by her side. Age 80 years. Arlene was born on December 15, 1938 to the late Earl and Helen (Wiedyk) Fritsch in Hampton Township, Michigan. She married he beloved husband Jerry C. Stegman at St. John’s Catholic Church in Essexville, Michigan on October 4, 1958, and he preceded her in death on November 10, 2002. Arlene was born and raised in Bay City and after getting married, started her own family with Jerry where she grew up. She retired from the Bay Valley resort after working many years as a Dining Manager, and before that she worked for Copoco Credit Union as a teller. Arlene was a life-long member at St. Jude Thaddeus Parish – St. John’s Catholic Church. Some of her favorite hobbies included: reading, gardening, and attending shows at the Bay City Players. Above all, her biggest joy in life was spending time with her family.
Left to cherish her memories are her children, Michael R. (Kathryn) Stegman, Sherry A. (John) Forgash, Gary J. Stegman, Robert A. (Angie) Stegman, and Diane M. (Donald) Holka; grandchildren, Scott Stegman, Alexis Stegman, Justin Forgash, Joshua Forgash, Kira Forgash, Rob (Jamie) Stegman, Josh (Kayla) Stegman, Allison Holka, and Ethan Holka; great-granchildren, Sarah Joy Stegman, Nevina Stegman, Katiyana Stegman, and Tobias Stegman; and sister and brother-in-law, Shirley E. and Donald Gotfryd. After many years apart, Arlene is finally reunited with her husband, Jerry C. Stegman and her parents, Earl and Helen (Wiedyk) Fritsch.
Arlene’s family would like to extend a special, Thank You, to the staff at Brian’s House and Heartland Hospice for the care and compassion that they provided to Arlene and their family.
At the request of Arlene, cremation has taken place and the Funeral Mass will be held at St. Jude Thaddeus Parish – St. John’s Catholic Church on Friday, March 29, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. Celebrant will be Fr. Dale Orlik Visitation will take place at the church on Friday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of Mass. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider memorials to “Brian’s House”.
