Sylvester J. “Cy” Perz
Bay City, Michigan
Our beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather passed away Thursday, April 5, 2018 at McLaren Bay Region, age 87. Sylvester was born December 31, 1930 in Bay City to the late John W. and Victoria (Bonk) Perz. He married Jean Therese Groulx in St. Joseph Catholic Church on April 26, 1952 and she survives him. Cy was a veteran and served his country with the US Army during the Korean Conflict. He retired from Sherwin Williams in Bay City after many decades of dedicated service and was a faithful member of Our Lady of Czestochowa Parish-St. Hyacinth Church. Cy was a devoted and loving family man. He enjoyed family vacations, road trips, and celebrating holidays and special occasions with his loved ones. He will be missed dearly not only by his wife of almost 66 years but also his seven children and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Surviving besides his wife Jean are his children: John (Denise) Perz, Robert Perz, Sue Perz, Margo Perz-Leonard, Carla (Keith) Ferry, James (Debbie) Perz, and Juliet (Alan) Nicholls, grandchildren: Madeleine Poole, Gabriel Koby, Giselle (Charles) Coster, Desiree (Arlyn) Willett, Larissa (Jon) Thurlow, Tyler (Brenna) Perz, Daniel Perz, Sara Perz-Hintz, Kenneth (Angie) Gorney, Nick (Danielle) Leonard, Megan Leonard, Jacob (Chelsie) Ferry, Hannah Ferry, Nathanael Ferry, Vincent Perz, Benjamin Perz, Jessica Perz and Grace Perz, great grandchildren: Morgan Hagan, Bliss Titus, Abigail Titus, Rylynn Poole, Sarah Koby, Elijah Koby, Charles Coster, Doran Richard, Dawson Richard, Dayton Richard, Jayden Thurlow, Violet Thurlow, Noah Gorney, and Victoria Gorney, as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family. Cy was predeceased by his daughter Gayle Perz Koby, one grandson Edward John Koby, one granddaughter Sarah Jane Koby, two brothers, Stanley “Whitey” (Dorothy) Perz and Chester (Veronica) Perz and two sisters Genevieve (Norman) Lauckner and Irene (Joseph) Bouckaert.
The Funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday, April 9, 2018 at 10:00 am at Our Lady of Czestochowa Parish-St. Hyacinth Church, 1515 Cass Ave., Bay City, MI 48708. Fr. Rick Filary will celebrate Mass. Interment and military honors will follow in St. Patrick Cemetery, under the auspices of the Bay County Veterans Honor Guard. Friends may call at the Ambrose Funeral Home on Sunday from 2:00 to 8:00 pm and at church on Monday after 9:00 am. A Parish Vigil Service for Cy will be held Sunday at 7:00 pm at the funeral home.
