Talaga, Stanley J.
Lake Orion, Michigan formally of Bay City, Michigan
Our father, grandfather, and brother passed away, with his family by his side, on Sunday, November 25, 2018 at the Covenant Hospital in Saginaw, Michigan. Stanley lived a vibrant life and exuded a singular joie de vivre right up to the time of the accident in his home on November 6 after which his health quickly deteriorated. He passed away at the age of 90 years old. Stanley was born in Bay City, Michigan on June 9, 1928 to the late Edward and Stella (Luczak) Talaga. He proudly served with distinction in the Army attaining the rank of buck sergeant during the Korean War and although wounded never applied for a purple heart in honor of those he served with. After serving he earned a Bachelor's Degree from Michigan State University and worked as a Social Worker for the State of Michigan for over 40 years. Later in his life he was certified as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and was recognized by the State of Michigan House of Representatives for outstanding lifetime service (House Resolution 748) Stanley also obtained his private pilot’s license, loved flying which he did well into his 80s and enjoyed vacationing in Hawaii. A tireless worker, Stanley literally planted a forest on his property in Lake Orion and enjoyed them as well as the house he built right up until his passing. Stanley will be dearly missed by his family and his friends, but always remembered.
Left to cherish his memories are his son and daughter-in-law, David, Sr. and Ann (St. Laurent) Talaga; three grandchildren, Jessica (Rob) Hendry, David J. Talaga, Jr., and Lauren (Drew) Slavik and many dear great-grandchildren He is survived by his two sisters, Christine Kiter and Grace Grigg and one brother, Ed Talaga. Stanley is welcomed into eternal life by his beloved son Paul Talaga, his parents and his sisters Evelyn and Cecilia.
