Benton, Roy W.
Roy passed way in the early morning hours of Wednesday, August 7, 2019 at the Brian’s House in Hampton Township, Michigan. Age 79 years. He was born on September 4, 1939 in Oklahoma, and was raised there. Later in life Roy moved from Oklahoma to Saginaw, Michigan where he would start a new life for himself. His entire life he worked as a laborer for different cement companies. While living in Michigan, he worked numerous years for Chet Allen at Allen’s Contracting Services, Inc. He would pour foundations, driveways, put curbs in, and many other jobs requiring the skills he obtained over the years. On July 31, 1993 Roy married his loving wife, Theanna R. Brown, and she has preceded him in death on May 26, 2012. Roy was a very hard worker. He loved planting flowers in his yard, cutting grass, feeding the birds, and being outside. Football always brought Roy tons of joy, he enjoyed watching college and professional football games whenever he had the chance. Roy will always be remembered as a man that could never sit still and always like to be busy. He could do just about any task he was given, and worked hard to get it done the right way.
Left to cherish his memories are Theanna’s children, Rhonda (Don Moser) Slayton, Brenda Slayton, and Rodney Slayton; grandchildren, RoseAnn Slayton, Bruce Martin, Chad Slayton, Adam Martin, Tina Slayton, Levi Williamson, and Anthony Slayton; and eight great-grandchildren. After a period of separation, Roy is finally reunited with his wife, Theanna R. Benton.
At the request of Roy and his family, cremation has taken place and there will be no services held at the Squires Funeral Home. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider a memorial to the “Brian’s House”. For online condolences, please visit www.SquiresFuneralHome.com
