Friedle, Robert L. “Bob”
Bay City, Michigan
Robert “Bob” Friedle, 75, of Bay City, our beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and uncle passed on Monday, October 1, 2018. Bob was born in Bay City on June 24th, 1943 to Laurence and Flora (Williams) Friedle. Bob attended T.L. Handy High School where he met his soul mate Lynda Gallagher whom he would later marry. He graduated with the class of 1961. Bob joined the U.S. Air Force where he developed his love of electronics and technology. He proudly served in Vietnam working with radar systems and was later honorably discharged from the military in 1969. Bob continued his love of electronics in civilian life as an engineer for many of the local radio stations in the area, many of which he built or rebuilt their broadcasting systems. In 1989 Bob became a radio station owner for a newly created station known as WTCF “The Tri Cities Fox” which went on the air in 1990. Bob sold the business in 1998, but continued to work as a radio station engineer until his retirement in 2011. In 2015, Bob was recognized for his many years of commitment and dedication in broadcasting by being awarded the “Carl E. Lee Broadcast Engineering Excellence Award” by the Michigan Association of Broadcasters. He was a member of the American Legion #18, a 3rd Degree Brother Knight of the Knights of Columbus Council #4102 and a 4th Degree Sir Knight of Bishop Murphy Assembly #0491.
Although his other achievements were great, Bob was best at being a family man, husband, and father. He had two sons, Brian Friedle and Dale Friedle, from a previous marriage. Bob would later marry the love of his life, Lynda Gallagher in 1975 and Jamie Friedle became his third son. Bob also loved to spend time with his grandchildren, Taylor, Tyler, Connor, and Brad. Bob will be sadly missed by all.
