Jayo, Phyllis "Jeanie"
Bay City, Michigan
Our loving wife, mother, grandmother, and sister passed away peacefully at the McLaren Bay Region in the morning hours of Tuesday, October 2, 2018, on what would have been her mother’s 100th birthday. Phyllis "Jeanie" was born to the late Ernest and Phyllis (Lauria) Szilagyi on April 29, 1940 in Bay City, Michigan. Her world revolved around her family and music. Jeanie was a talented musician; she could play numerous instruments, sing, and write her own music. She produced several country music tracks using the name Jeanie Jayo. In her later years she loved to collect unique rocks on the railroad tracks near their house. Although she will be missed, the family is happy that she is finally able to sing again.
Left to cherish her memories is her husband, Roger Jayo; six children, five step-children; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; one brother; Jim (Carol) Szilagyi; two sisters, Dianne (Rick) Long and Erna Hogan; several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She is preceded in death by her parents; grandson, Benjamin Wilson; brother, Roger Szilagyi; and brother-in-law, Rod Hogan.
The Funeral Service will take place at the Squires Funeral Home on Saturday, October 6, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. Celebrant will be Fr. Jose Maria Cabrera.
