Szczepanik, Monica Marie
Bay City, Michigan
Our beloved mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend went to be with the Lord in the morning hours of Wednesday, June 5, 2019 at her residence in Bay City, Michigan. Age 92 years. Monica was born on August 4, 1926 in Bay City, Michigan to the late Frank and Beatrice (Abeare) Sobczak. On January 31, 1948 Monica married the love of her life, Aloysius “Mike” Szczepanik, and he preceded her in death on June 9, 1978. For several years, she worked for the Bay City Times in the Circulation Department. She was a member of Our Lady of Czestochowa Parish – St. Hyacinth Church, a member of the Altar Society, Rosary Society, and Senior Citizens Club. When her children were young, Monica would volunteer at their school as the lunch lady. She enjoyed playing bingo, cards, sewing, ceramics, and tending to her garden, but nothing meant more to her than her grandchildren. She will be missed dearly by all of her family and friends.
Left to cherish her memories are 7 children, Linda (Ken) Shear, Kathy (Jerry) Michalik, Thomas (Annette) Szczepanik, Judy (Jim) Powell, Robert Szczepanik, Mary (Larry) Hitchcock, and Michelle (Bob) Gysin; 7 grandchildren, Daniel (Wendy) Michalik, Kim Michalik, Angie Buda, Dr. Jessica (Dr. Shane) Morrison, Scott Szczepanik, Michael Gysin, and Ryan Gysin; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and special friends. Monica will be welcomed into the Gates of Heaven by her husband, Aloysius Szczepanik; parents, Frank and Beatrice (Abeare) Sobczak; brother and sisters, Donald Sobczak, Florence (Richard) Harris, Rita (Arthur) Gielda, Patricia (Floyd) Wieszczecinski, and Colleen “Theresa” Sutkowi; and brothers-in-laws and sisters-in-law, Eleanor (Virgil) Lamblin, Julia (Steve) Jezowski, Josephine (Adolph) Warzecha, Sophie Szczepanik, and Amelia “Millie” (Edward) Stachwoiak.
The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 8, 2019 at Our Lady of Czestochowa Parish – St. Hyacinth Church. Celebrant will be Fr. Rick Filary.
