Maxine “Patsy” McCarty
Bay City, Michigan
Maxine “Patsy” McCarty, aged 86, passed away peacefully with loving family by her side the afternoon hours of Saturday, June 29, 2019 at Bayfield Assisted Living. She was born December 27, 1932 in Bay City, Michigan to the late Jon and Lillian (Sylvester) Wazbinski. Patsy was a graduate of the Mercy School of Nursing where she earned her degree as a Licensed Registered Nurse. She worked many years for Chapin, Wright and Ellison Pediatrics and Drs. Bickham and Olgac as head nurse and office manager. Patsy married William A. McCarty, Sr. in St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Bay City, Michigan August 27, 1955. He preceded her in death on June 22, 2001.
Patsy was a devout Catholic with a strong devotion to the Blessed Mother and would pray the Rosary daily. Patsy was a member of St. Catherine of Siena Parish – St. Vincent DePaul Church. She would make baked goods for funeral lunches and in her earlier years, along with her husband, provided Pre-Cana Marriage consultation for couples preparing to be married in the Catholic Church.
Great too, was her devotion to her husband, children, and grandchildren. She was a diligent caregiver and a strong advocate for her children. She was the quiet observer who worked hard so that her children would be able to see firsthand and participate in all of life’s many wonderful opportunities. Patsy was also a seamstress. She would make all of the costumes for her children and grandchildren’s plays. She knitted Christmas Stockings that are treasured still.
Living to cherish her memory are her children William m’Arch (Janet) McCarty, Patrice (Kurt) Schnell, Robert (Kristine) McCarty, James (Susan) McCarty, Paul McCarty; fourteen grandchildren, eight grand-grandchildren; a sister, Nancy Jean Dorion; an uncle, J. Bob (Jeanie) Traxler, and her furry companion Macker. Besides her husband and parents, Patsy was welcomed Home by her baby sister, Betty Lou.
Patsy’s family will be present to receive friends and relatives at Squires Funeral Home on Wednesday, July 3, 2019 from 11:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. A Rosary Service will take place at 6:30 p.m. followed by the Parish Vigil service at 7:00 p.m. Per Patsy’s wishes, cremation will follow and a Funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday, July 15, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Catherine of Siena Parish – St. Vincent DePaul Church, 2956 E. North Union Rd., Bay City, Michigan 48706. Rev. James William Bessert will preside with interment in Calvary Cemetery. Patsy’s family will be present to receive visitors at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy are encouraged to consider the “Wishes of the Family”.
