Our devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend to all, passed away peacefully Friday morning August 2, 2019 at his residence, age 84.  Ken was born February 15, 1935 in Zilwaukee, Michigan to the late Frank and Mary (Westendorf) Adamkiewicz.  He married the love of his life, Joann M. Ratajczak in St. Norbert Catholic Church in Munger on September 7, 1957.  Ken was a veteran and served his country with the US Air Force from 1952 to 1956.  He had a long career with the Sears Roebuck, Co. as a department manager in Bay City, Saginaw and Flint, retiring on April 6, 1993.  After some time away from a regular work schedule and enjoying retirement, Ken joined the staff and his second family at Ambrose Funeral Home and Squires Funeral Home. Working patiently and closely with the families at their visitations and funeral services for more than 15 years.  He was a faithful member, usher and volunteer of Visitation Catholic Church.  Ken was also a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #414 and St. Vincent DePaul Society.  He volunteered numerous hours at Our Lady of Peace Parish Food Pantry and St. Vincent DePaul Store, where he helped with their bookkeeping.  Ken will be missed for his hard work, dedication and contagious smile.

Surviving besides his wife of almost 62 years Joann are three children: Sharron Adlam, Kathy (Dan) Gillespie and Michael (Marsha) Adamkiewicz, five grandchildren: Katie (Keith) Jammer, Melissa and Ashley Gillespie, Elizabeth and Matthew Adamkiewicz, two great grandsons, Hunter Winchell and Jonathon Jammer, one sister Janet Debolt, one sister-in-law Maryann VanDenBoom, several nieces and nephews.  Ken was predeceased by parents, Frank and Mary (Westendorf) Adamkiewicz; his father and mother-in-law Stanley and Clara Ratajczak, three brothers-in-law: Don Debolt, Roy VanDenBoom and James (Alice) Ratajczak and a sister-in-law Gertrude (Frank) VanDenBoom.

The Funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday, August 5, 2019 at 11:00 AM at Our Lady of Peace Parish-St. Mary’s Church.  Fr. John Sarge will celebrate Mass and private entombment will be in St. Stanislaus Mausoleum.  Friends may call at Squires Funeral Home on Sunday from 3:00 to 8:00 PM and at church Monday after 10:00 AM.  A Parish Vigil Service and Knights of Columbus Bible presentation for Ken will be held Sunday at 7:00 PM at the funeral home.  Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to Our Lady of Peace Parish Food Pantry or McLaren Hospice.

Joann and her children would like to thank McLaren Hospice, especially “Big Ben” and Nicole for their wonderful care they gave Ken and his entire family.  Anything we needed you were always there every step of the way.  Thank you!
