John Senkowski

Essexville, Michigan

Our beloved father, grandfather and great-grandfather passed away Wednesday, May 9, 2018 at McLaren Bay Region, age 91.  John was born January 2, 1927 in Parisville, Michigan to the late John and Frances (Gazda) Senkowski.  He married Marie R. Pawlaczyk on May 5, 1951 and she predeceased him on April 10, 2011.  John was a WWII veteran and served his country with the US Navy from 1944 to 1946.  He retired from Bay City Chevrolet in 1985 after more than 37 years of dedicated service.  He was a devoted member of Our Lady of Czestochowa Parish-St. Stanislaus Church, St. Stanislaus Knights of Columbus Council #12423 and Bishop Murphy Assembly #0491. John was very proud of his Polish heritage and, along his late wife, was a founding member of the Saginaw Valley Friends of Polish Culture.

The family would like to thank the staff at McLaren Bay Region for the wonderful and compassionate care given to John and extend a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Robert Hafford, who provided wonderful care to John for over twenty years.

John enjoyed perch fishing, gardening, spending time outdoors and time with his family.

An animal lover, John enjoyed the company and comfort of his two cats, Baby Mariska and Guggenheim Rose.

Surviving are his six children: Anita Senkowski, Celeste (Tim) Dole, Eric, Jeff, Laura and Steve (Nancy) Senkowski, three grandchildren and three great grandchildren.  John was predeceased by four brothers and five sisters.

Per John’s wishes, private services for his immediate family were held at St. Stanislaus Cemetery.  Deacon Stanley Kuczynski officiated.  No visitation or services will be at Ambrose Funeral Home.  Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to Our Lady of Czestochowa Parish, Meals On Wheels or Bay City’s Good Samaritan Rescue Mission.  www.ambrosefuneralchapel.com
