     Mr. Barber age 87 of Bay City passed away on October 9, 2019 at The Carriage House of Bay City.  Jay was born on August 11, 1932 in Rose City, MI to the late Jay Barber Sr. and the late Ethel (Nelson) Cooley.  He was married to Virginia (Realy) Barber and she predeceased him on December 18, 1996.  Jay served in the U.S. Army from 1951-1953 stationed in Alaska.  He was a lifelong member of the VFW.  He was a self-employed contractor and owned Barber Aluminum Service.  Jay was a member of PLAV and the Bay City Muskrat Club.  For many years Jay bowled and sponsored bowling teams.  He was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved the outdoors of Michigan.  Surviving are a son Jay III (Karen) Barber of Canton, GA;  daughter Janice (William) Shaughnessy of Mt Juliet, TN; one Granddaughter Lori (Jon) Uhler of Kennesaw, GA; a Great Granddaughter Addison Uhler.  Also surviving are a sister Shirley Miller, brothers Norman (Emma) Barber, Richard (Cathy) Cooley, sister-in-law Bonnie Barber, and several nephews and nieces.  He was pre-deceased by his brother Oliver and sisters Leona Campbell, Carol Barcia, and brothers Dennis Cooley and Ronald Cooley.  A Memorial service will be held at Ambrose Funeral Home on Friday, October 18, 2019 at 4:00 p.m. Officiate will be Pastor Joe Atchinson.
