Janet M. LeVasseur
Bay City, Michigan
Our beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother passed away peacefully Friday, February 16, 2018 at McLaren Bay Region, age 85. Janet was born January 22, 1933 in Bay City, Michigan to the late Theophil and Mary (Wojciechowski) Switala. She married Lesley C. LeVasseur in St. Hyacinth Church on April 19, 1952 and he predeceased her on November 22, 2006. She retired from Graphic Metals, Inc. and was a member of Our Lady of Czestochowa Parish-St. Stanislaus Church. Janet loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She enjoyed cooking and baking some of the best polish food.
Surviving are four sons: Dale (Karen DeWar) LeVasseur, Derek (Patricia) LeVasseur, Don (Marie) LeVasseur and Duane LeVasseur, three grandchildren: Eric (Danielle) LeVasseur, Sara (Paul) Reder and Tammy (fiance Emory Close) Pelletier, five great grandchildren: Juliana, Alexandria and Benjamin LeVasseur, Grant and Olivia Reder, two sisters in-law, Gerri and Joyce Switala, many loved nieces and nephews and her cat Molly. Janet was predeceased by her son David LeVasseur and siblings: Victor Piesik, Edward Piesik, Norbert Switala, Dorothy Perry, Gertrude Maciejewski, Virginia Parker and Richard Switala.
Per Janet’s request, cremation will take place. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday, February 23, 2018 at 10:00 am at Our Lady of Czestochowa Parish-St. Stanislaus Church, 1503 Kosciuszko Ave., Bay City, MI 48708. Fr. William J. Rutkowski will celebrate Mass and private entombment will be in St. Stanislaus Mausoleum. Friends may call at the Ambrose Funeral Home on Thursday from 5:00 to 8:00 pm and at church on Friday after 9:00 am.
