James “Jim” P. Anvia

James P. Anvia, age 81, passed away peacefully in the morning hours of Tuesday, November 26, 2019 at McLaren Bay Region in Bay City, Michigan. He was born on September 17, 1938 in Bay City, Michigan to the late John and Helen (Poznan) Anvia. He married Nancy J. DeFord on February 11, 1967 and she predeceased him in death August of 2005. James was a veteran and proudly served his country with the United States Air Force. He retired from General Motors after nearly 30 years of service; he will be remembered by many coworkers by his nickname, “Cowboy”. For several years, James served the community of Whittemore-Prescott as a volunteer firefighter. James was an avid leatherworker and hunter. In his younger years, James enjoyed monkeying with his CB Radio. His family will always remember him by his great sense of humor, going out of his way for anyone, and how he was loved by everyone. James will be missed dearly.
Left to cherish his memory is his two daughters Yvonne (Steven) Hodder and Sandra Anvia; three grandchildren, Elizabeth Dudley, Taylor Steff, andCole Steff; his special friend,Patricia Sinko; fur babies, Sparky and Lady; and numerous brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. James is finally reunited with his parents, John and Helen (Poznan) Anvia; His wife, Nancy J. DeFord; and his brother, Thomas Anvia.
Family and friends may call to the Squires Funeral Home on Monday, December 2, 2019 from 2:00 until 8:00 p.m. Military Honors will be conducted at 6:00 p.m. Monday evening, at the funeral home, under the auspices of the Bay County Veterans Honor Guard and the United States Air Force.
