Silverthorn, George McFarland

George McFarland Silverthorn passed away peacefully on January 7, 2019 after 90 well lived years. He was born on February 9, 1928 to Allen and Bernice Silverthorn in Harrisville, Michigan. After serving time as an Army medic, he later relocated to Bay City. Ever the hardworking man, George worked for many years at Dobson Heavy Haul until his retirement. George was patient, full of life and always had a smile on his face.

On May 19, 1956, George married the love of his life, Eunice (Goddard) Silverthorn. They enjoyed 62 wonderful years together, until her passing on June 4, 2018. George was a loving and devoted husband, and proud father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who cherished the time he spent with his family. George is survived by his children Larry (Judy) Silverthorn, Linda (Robert) Bosco, Brian (Kimberly) Silverthorn, Debra Nowosatka, William Silverthorn, and Amy Glazier; his brothers, Allen (Bertha) Silverthorn and Glenn (Annie) Silverthorn; grandchildren Monique, Cheryl, Kelly, Robert, Jennifer, Nicholas, Tiffany, Ashley, Kasie, Kylie, Aaron, Jacob, Nigel, Darbi, Dakota, and Christian; 28 great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters-in-law, Allen (Bertha) Silverthorn, and Glenn (Annie) Silverthorn; as well as several nieces, nephews, and friends.

In addition to his “sweety-heart” Eunice, George was preceded in death by his parents; his son-in-law, Fredrick Nowosatka; and his nephew Douglas.

The family would like to thank the Brittany Manor Reflections Team for all of their love and care of George.

Per George’s wishes, cremation has taken place and no services are planned. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to make a memorial contribution to the “Wishes of the Family”.  www.squiresfuneralhome.com
