Reyez, Frederick Sr.
Bay City, Michigan
Frederick Reyez Sr. went to be with our Lord on Wednesday November 27, 2019. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. Frederick was born on July 8, 1931 in Carver, Minnesota to the late Limbano and Esther (Teres) Reyez. The eldest of five children, he served as a mentor and leader from the beginning until the end. Frederick lit up every room he walked in with his unforgettable smile and laugh. He did not know a stranger and made sure to treat everyone he met with kindness and love. On May 8, 1953, at Visitation Catholic Church, Frederick married the love of his life, Brigida Zarasua and she survives him. Frederick always welcomed everyone with open arms and his home soon grew to serve as a safe haven for many of the neighborhood kids and extended family. Frederick taught his children from an early age the meaning of hard work and perseverance. Fred served as a member of the Operating Engineers 324 for over 25 years. He and his family have been longtime members of Our Lady of Peace Parish- St. Mary's church. Frederick enjoyed: hunting, fishing, bowling, riding motorcycles, watching old Westerns, sitting on his porch, eating home cooked meals and spending time with his family. Frederick's children will never forget the memories they formed during family camping trips across Michigan and vacations to Mexico to visit family members. Frederick was a light to this world and will truly be missed by all who knew him. His family meant the world to him and he meant the world to his family.
Left to cherish his memories are his wife of 66 years, BrigidaReyez; five children, Lupe (Derrick) Smith, Frederick Reyez, Margaret (Sergio) Ceja, Jenny (Joe) Gagarin, and Michael Reyez; grandchildren, Derrick (Amber) Smith, Sophia Smith, Fred I. (Kadi) Reyez, Sergio Ceja, Eva (Javier Benavides) Ceja, Victor (Katie) Hall, Gabriel Gagarin, and Isabella Gagarin; five great-grandchildren; special daughter-in-law, Theresa Reyez; siblings, Alex Gomez, Josie Lopez, Zukie Romero, Margie Lopez, Dora Stricker, and Jenny Villanueva; special friend, Miguel Silva; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
