          Our beloved sister and aunt passed away peacefully in the evening hours of the night on Sunday, May 19, 2019 in Auburn, Michigan at the Auburn Heights Senior Living. Age 93 years. Evarista was born in Bay City, Michigan on March 18, 1926 to the late Theodore and Victoria (Habowski) Lachajewski. On May 10, 1952 she married the love of her life, Eugene S. Tarkowski, and he preceded her in death in 1996. Evarista was a lifelong member at St. Hyacinth Church. For over twenty years she served on the Breakfast Committee at church, Rosary and Alter Society, Felician Sisters, and Senior Citizens and League of Catholic Men and Women. Evarista will be missed dearly by all of her family and friends.


          Left to cherish her memories are one sister, Bernadine Tasior; special niece, Marilyn Graham, and several other nieces and nephews. After a period of separation, Evarista is welcome into Heavens’ Gates’ by her husband, Eugene S. Tarkowski; son, Thomas Tarkowski, parents, Theodore and Victoria (Habowski) Lachajewski; and sister Gerry Bromberg.


          Evarista’s Family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at American Home Health and Hospice Care and Auburn Heights Senior Living for the care and compassion that they provided to Evarista and their family.


          A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, May 25, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Czestochowa Parish – St. Hyacinth Church. Celebrating will be Rev. Fr. Robert Kelm. Visitation will take place at church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass. Private family Committal Prayers and inurnment will take place at St. Patrick Cemetery in Bay City, MI. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to the “St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital” or “Wishes of the Family”.
