Mr. Newman passed away on Wednesday, September 11, 2019 at Brian’s House in Hampton Township, Michigan after a long and lengthy battle with cancer. Mr. Newman was born on May 5th, 1961 in Saginaw, Michigan to the late Darwin A. and Elaine D. (Adamski, Kryszak) Newman. Mr. Newman was proud of his ancestry; Jewish from his father’s side, and Polish from his mother’s side of the family. Mr. Newman resided in Carrollton Township for 43 years, and then in 2004 moved to the Bay City South end where he has lived for the past 15 years. Mr. Newman was a 1979 graduate of Carrollton High School and played 3 years of Varsity Baseball from 1977 to 1979. He was a great hitter, solid centerfielder with a great glove and throwing arm. He was quite the speedster, running the bases and defensively charging to fly balls in the outfield. He proudly played for Coach Harold Compeau and the Carrollton Cavaliers. On September 1st, 1984 at the age of 23, Mr. Newman and his true love and 19 year old sweetheart, Diane Carol Nash, were married in Saginaw. Mr. Newman came down with a serious illness from 1986 until 1989. He fought a tough battle with cancer for 3 years during their first few years of marriage. Diane was always by his side for all hospital stays, medical procedures and tests, surgery’s, and chemo-therapy treatments, and numerous other doctor appointments. Even though their marriage ended in a divorce, they were blessed with a son, Anthony Lee Newman who was born on June 29th 1988; while Mr. Newman was receiving treatments for his cancer. Mr. Newman was employed at Saginaw Cox Cable T.V. working in the Sales and Marketing Department. He also worked for PASS of Detroit Pro AM Sports Station, handling business accounts for Detroit Tigers Baseball, Red Wings Hockey, and Pistons Basketball for all the bars and taverns. He went on to work as an Insurance Agent for Combined Insurance of America out of Chicago; traveling and working all of Michigan’s Lower Peninsula. He worked at Saginaw WSGW 790 AM and Magic 106.3 FM Radio Station selling Radio Advertising. When Mr. Newman moved to Bay City he was employed at Access Mortgage and Financial in Downtown Bay City as a Loan Officer. Mr. Newman worked for Mark McCargar at Mark One Pool & Spas in Hemlock and St. Charles Community Hardware Store. In 1986 at the age of 25, entered into politics and ran for public office Challenging State Senator Jerome T. Hart in the 1886 State Senate Race and lost to the 22 year incumbent for the Saginaw County Seat. Four Years later, in 1990 at the age of 29 he challenged James E. O’Neill of Saginaw and lost his bid for the State House Seat. Mr. Newman, at the age of 51, became a Political Activist working on Michigan State Ballot Proposals and State Initiatives as a petitioner, Collecting Registered Voters signatures to place referendoms on the General Election Ballot. To make State Government better for the people in the State of Michigan, until his recent illness.
Mr. Newman is survived by his son, Anthony Newman and his fiancé, Irais Pierson; one grandson, Landon Newman, all of Oceanside California; one sister, Tori (Jeff) Little of Thomas Township; two brothers, Mark (Laurie) Newman of Swartz Creek and Kevin (Luanne) Newman of Ann Arbor; special Aunt Mimi, Romaine Kryszak of Bay City; four nieces, Alicia, Jordan, Elaina Newman, and Cori Little; two cousins, Dennis (Vickie) Newman and Janice Newman Reber; brother-in-law, Phillip Nash; and sister-in-law, Karen Nash Sperry. After a period of separation, Mr. Newman is finally reunited with his father, Darwin Newman (1979); mother, Elaine (Kryszak) Newman (2002); uncle, Bruce Newman (2019); aunt, Betty Newman (2017); step-uncle, Reginald Niedzinski (2016); father-in-law, Dennis Nash (2009); and mother-in-law, Joan Nash (1991). Mr. Newman also has another son, Caleb Cline, born May 8th 1991; the son of Lisa Cline Mullikens.
Mr. Newman’s Motto:
Success is measured by the heights you attain. Success is also measured by the obstacles you overcome in your lifetime. Mr. Newman, from 1986-1989, ages 25-28, and from 2018-2019, ages 57-58. Lost over 5 years of his time due to Cancer. Mr. Newman was also blessed from the Grace of God with good health from 1990 until 2017. Over 25 years without any medical procedures, no hospitals, or no doctors’ visits. Mr. Newman hit the Jackpot of his lifetime and passes his torch down to his sons Anthony (31) and Caleb (28). For them, the best times are burning bright for the eternal flame shall never die. Family over everything else.
The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, September16, 2019 at Our Lady of Czestochowa Parish – St. Hyacinth Church, 1515 Cass Ave. Bay City, Michigan 48708. Celebrant will be Fr. Rick Filary. Friends may call to the Squires Funeral Chapel on Sunday, September 15, 2019 from 1:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m., and on Monday at the church from 9:00 a.m. until the time of Mass. At 12:00 p.m. on Monday, family and friends will meet at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Saginaw, Michigan for Committal Prayers and Interment.
