Gasta, Carol Ann (Letourneau)
Gladwin, Michigan Formerly of Bay City, Michigan
Our wonderful Mom and Grandma, Carol Ann Gasta, went to dance with Dad in Heaven, in the early morning hours of Thursday, October 10, 2019 at The Brook in Gladwin, Michigan. Age 79 years. Carol was born on July 20, 1940 in Crump, Michigan to the late Lawrence W. and Genevieve “Jeanette” (Gontko) Letourneau and was a lifelong resident of Bay City. On February 14, 1970 at St. Joseph Church in Bay City, Carol married the love of her life, Floyd M. Gasta, and he preceded her in death on April 9, 2011. Carol worked at the Hampton Manor Nursing Home for 18 years, and later retired from the Hoyt Nursing Home on May 29, 1992 after working her whole career as a Certified Dietary Manager. She was a longtime member of St. Joseph Church, which is now St. Jude Thaddeus Parish, and also St. Hyacinth Church. She was a member of the Knights of Columbus Women’s Auxiliary St. Stephens Council #4102, and the Fraternal Order of Eagles #1010. Some of her favorite hobbies included; ceramics, sewing, embroidery, camping, and reading. Above all nothing meant more to Carol than her family. She will be missed dearly by all of her family and friends.
Left to cherish her memories are her two daughters, Lanette (Ed) and Lori (Trent); the outlaws, Mark and Anne; eight grandchildren, Jeanette (Jason), Kyle (Julie), Brad (Jamie), Alyssa (Justin), Ashlee, Brett, Drew (Mersadi), and Jackson; fourteen great-grandchildren, Kaiden, Mailee, Andrew, Jacob, Logan, Beckam, Jackson, Deacon, Walden, Zeek, Bella, Aaliyha, Miya, and Atom; in-law, Phyllis (Norton) Nagy; longtime childhood friend, Carolyn; and longtime friend, Corinne; and several cousins. Carol is reunited in Heaven with her husband, Floyd; children, David and Denise; a granddaughter, Alicia; her parents, Lawrence and Jeanette; her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Max and Stella Gasta; and in-laws, Walter and Ella Hobkirk and Duke Norton.
The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 19, 2019 at St. Jude Thaddeus Parish – St. John’s Church. Celebrant will be Fr. David Parsch. Friends may call to the Ambrose Funeral Chapel on Friday, October 18, 2019 from 2:00 until 8:00 p.m., and at church on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of Mass. Immediately following Mass, family and friends will travel in procession to St. Patrick Cemetery for Committal Prayers. Inurnment will take place at a later date. At 7:00 p.m. on Friday evening, the Knights of Columbus Women’s Auxiliary St. Stephen’s Council #4102 will have a Prayer Tribute for Carol. Immediately following, a Vigil Service will be performed by the St. Jude Thaddeus Parish. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider a memorial to the “Wishes of the Family”.
