Knepfler, Carl M. Sr.
Bay City, Michigan
Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, and brother passed away peacefully, with his family by his side, at his residence in Bay City, Michigan in the late morning hours of Saturday, July 13, 2019. Carl was born in West Branch, Michigan on February 17, 1936 to his late mother, Marie Burgher. Carl proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army. On September 8th, 1956, inside Saint Joseph Catholic Church, Carl married the love of his life, Margaret I. Good, and she survives him. After starting a family, Carl and Margaret moved from their hometown of West Branch to start their life in Bay City. After 27 years of service, Carl retired in 1993 as a Hazardous Materials Truck Driver for Leaseway Transportation Corp. To Carl, his faith was very important. He was an active member of Our Lady of Peace Parish – St. Mary’s Church in Bay City. He was an avid bowler, hunter, and shuffleboard player. Carl and his wife are proud to have hosted a National Shuffleboard Tournament near their residence in Arizona, people from across the world traveled to attend the festivities. He and his wife always enjoyed spending time together at their residence in Arizona and in West Branch. Carl also had a love for fishing, his sons will cherish the memories they made with their father on their Canada fishing trips. Above all, nothing meant more to Carl than his family. They will miss him dearly.
Left to cherish his memories are his wife of 62 years, Margaret I. Knepfler; children, Linda Knepfler, Carl Jr. (Elizabeth) Knepfler, and Keith (Angie) Knepfler; eleven grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; sister, Phyllis Gooding; brother, David (Sandy) Knepfler; and numerous nieces and nephews. After a period of separation, Carl is joyfully welcomed into Heaven’s Gate’s by his children, Carol Knepfler, Dean Knepfler, and Michael Knepfler; mother, Marie Burgher; daughter-in-law, Julie Knepfler, brother, Ron Burgher; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Minnie and Lloyd Good; and brother-in-law, Marv Gooding.
The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 16, 2019 at Our Lady of Peace Parish – St. Mary’s Church, 607 E. South Union St. Bay City, Michigan 48706. Celebrant will be Rev. Fr. John Sarge. Visitation will take place on Tuesday at church from 10 a.m. until the time of Mass. Following dismissal of Mass, Military Honors will be performed under the auspices of the Bay County Veterans Honor Guard. Private Family interment will take place at St. Joseph Cemetery in West Branch, Michigan.
